Landscape is Marc Tanguy’s current most favorite field of exploration. He uses short brushstrokes and vibrant colors to express a sense of tranquility. The landscape image blurs and becomes abstract in his paintings. Allowing viewers room for imagination. From the dense brushstrokes to the use of large color blocks, his works are permeated with an open poetic space in variation. The peaceful and silent atmospheres along with the lights and colors of the image manifests a certain lyricism and the artist’s affection for nature.

Artist Biography

Marc Tanguy

Born in Paris, France in 1959, Tanguy was a student of Zao Wou-ki when he studied at the National School of Decorative Arts (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs) in Paris. He then studied at the National School of Art (École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts) in Paris. He taught at the University of Barcelona of Fine Arts and University of Évry in Paris, and is the current professor of decorative arts at the National School of Decorative Arts. Tanguy has held more then 15 solo exhibitions, and his works have also been exhibited in numerous large-scale exhibitions around the world, including 2019 "Between Reality and Ideal" Chinese and French Artists Exhibition in France, 1991 "Contemporary Still Life" in Belgium, 2016 "Plural Abstractions" in France and 2006 Saint-Grégoire Painting Prize Exhibition in France.
